Gourmet Dining

Earlier this month Hillsborough Stadium hosted their first ever Gourmet Dining Event. Since Lindley Venue Catering have partnered with SWFC’s Stadium, Hillsborough the food offering has been second to none with significant investment improving the quality and service.

The event was a resounding success with Lindley serving up a five course menu filled with delicious cuisine that is sourced from local suppliers – we’re all about supporting our local producers! Served up in the Sheridan suite, diners were delighted with the cuisine on offer and all received a glass of champagne on arrival.

Lindley’s top chefs Gary Bates and Andy Wardle were on hand during the event showcasing Hillsborogh’s gourmet package. One diner commented, “At the risk of repetition, I have to remark that Monday was one of the best corporate days I’ve ever enjoyed at SWFC – and I have had more than a few in my time, so that’s a compliment.”

Hillsborough Stadium are hosting the Sheffield Derby on Sunday 26th February 2012!

As ever, this will be an interesting match between the two local sides, especially as they have been in the same league for 6 out of the last 9 seasons…this only serves to heighten the competition!

Have The Owls got the advantage? Of course they do – they’re playing on home turf with thousands of loyal fans attending to cheer them on!

The Boxing Day Massacre, as named by SWFC fans is also known as the Steel City Derby. On a crisp winter’s day in 1979, The Owls and The Blades clashed boots in what can only be described as a massacre! United were at the top of the league at the time and succumbed to a 4-0 defeat with goals scored by Ian Mellor, Terry Curran, Mark Smith and Jeff King.

Prior to the derby, on Saturday 25th February, Wednesdayites have the chance to meet and greet some of the legends of the famous 1979 match!

Professional Boxing at Hillsborough

 Hillsborough Stadium is proud to announce that we’re hosting a fundraising professional boxing event.

The night is organised by Glyn Rhodes promotions in association with Rotherham based The Meadowbank Group. The event is in aid of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

All proceeds raised on the night will go to the charity. Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice offers care and support to Children and young adults with a shorter life expectancy. The support costs the hospice £2.5 million per year and they are entirely independent receiving no statutory government funding. That’s why you should come to Hillsborough Stadium for a fun evening of boxing and help raise money for the Hospice.

The night includes four bouts of professional boxing including Ben Wager, Daniel Slaney, Wayne Reed and Adrian Fuzesi. Accompanying the nights entertainment is a delicious three course dinner prepared by the finest Hillsborough Chefs; soup, fillet of beef and a scrumptious cheesecake.

Special guest speaker on the night is Jon Conteh.

The event will take place on Friday 2nd December 2011. Guests are invited to arrive at 7:00pm for a 7:30pm start.

Hillsborough Stadium launch new website

Just this week Hillsborough Stadium have launched their brand new website www.hillsboroughstadium.com.

The website is part of Lindley Venue Catering’s initiative to make everyone aware of the superb events and conferecing facilities available for hire at the stadium. Not only is it home to Sheffield Wednesday FC, it is also a fantastic space for a variety of events. Match day catering and hospitality is provided by reknowned stadia caterer The Lindley Group, who also strive to make the most of the stadium on non match days. Events such as conferences, meetings, parties and weddings are held on a weekly basis.
